Monterey Park highlight
Historic residential character
Founded in 1916 as a residential suburb of Los Angeles, Monterey Park retains tree-lined streets, single-family homes from the early and mid-twentieth century, and the character of a planned suburban community.

Monterey Park was platted and developed as a residential suburb beginning in 1916. The city's founding generation, the residents who voted 455 to 33 to incorporate, were motivated in part to prevent a sewage treatment facility from being built in their community. That civic engagement in the shape of the neighborhood they wanted set a tone that persists in the city's character: a place where residents actively shape their community.
The city's original neighborhoods, developed through the mid-twentieth century, feature the tree-lined streets and single-family homes typical of planned suburban communities built during that era. Many of those homes remain, now owned by third and fourth-generation families alongside newer residents. The historic character of these neighborhoods, their walkability and proximity to schools and parks, continues to draw families to Monterey Park.
The neighborhoods people choose to raise families in become the backdrop of their household story. A home, a school, a street you know, the people around you—these are the things a term life policy is protecting. For families who have chosen Monterey Park, whether they own one of the historic homes or a newer build, the calculation is the same: what would the mortgage and the daily life look like without the income that built it.
